"Some people move on," Captain America utters in a TV spot for the next Avengers movie. "But not us. Not us."

Chris Evans may have been speaking from the heart when talking as his stars-and-stripes alter ego. Evans, the Sudbury native who rose to superstardom in his role as Marvel's Captain America, recently said he "might have to cut ties" with Tom Brady if the Patriots quarterback still supports President Trump.

"I really hope he’s not a Trump supporter," Evans told The Hollywood Reporter in a story published Wednesday. "I’m just hoping he’s one of those guys that maybe supported him and now regrets it. Maybe he thought it was going to be different — and even that bothers me — but maybe there’s a chance now he just thinks Trump’s an absolute dumb s---, which he is. If he doesn’t, if he’s still on that Trump train, I might have to cut ties. It’s really tough."

Evans's response came after he was asked if he would ever play Brady in a biopic.

"I think maybe a couple of years ago," he said, "I might have tried to pull some, like, mental gymnastics to compartmentalize, but I don't know if I can anymore. So I'm just hoping he's woken up."

Brady took criticism for having a Make America Great Again hat in his locker in 2015, telling reporters it "would be great" if Trump won the presidency. Brady has been tight-lipped about his relationship to Trump ever since, but Trump later said Brady called to say he voted for him in 2016. Brady was a last-minute scratch from the Patriots Super Bowl championship visit to the White House, reportedly angering Trump.
