SUDBURY, MA — Drivers in Sudbury should pay extra close attention to crosswalks and stop signs this month.

The town has started repainting existing crosswalks and stop lines — the work began Sunday night — and that means wet paint along roadways.

According to the Department of Public Works, drivers should watch for cones placed near stop signs and crosswalks, signifying fresh paint.

"If you see cones in the vicinity of pavement markings, please avoid driving on the fresh paint," the town said.

The painting is not the only road work going on now in the area. The town also recently began street sweeping season, and MassDOT will be closing Route 126 intermittently this month through Lincoln and Concord for repaving.
