It's Free Freshwater Fishing This Weekend in Massachusetts

You don't need a license to fish in any public freshwater lake, pond, reservoir or stream statewide this weekend.

MASSACHUSETTS—Drop a line in for free this weekend.

The Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife is reminding folks that Free Fishing Weekend is a perfect opportunity to introduce someone new to fishing.

You don't need a license to fish any public freshwater lake, pond, reservoir, river, or stream statewide from midnight on Saturday, June 4, until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, June 5.

A license is required at all other times for those 15 and older. Funds from fishing license sales support MassWildlife's fisheries research, fish stocking programs, and angler education programs. For saltwater anglers, free saltwater fishing weekend is June 18-19.
