SUDBURY, MA — Perhaps one of the largest infrastructure projects in recent years in Sudbury will begin in earnest in June with a meeting for residents who will be impacted by the work.

On June 7, town officials will detail plans for the first phase of a project that may bring sewer lines to main parts of town, including the Route 20 corridor and neighborhoods along Raymond Road.

In 2020, a private firm began studying ways to add sewer lines to the Route 20 and Raymond Road corridors in a bid to remove septic systems that are located close to natural waterways and drinking water wells.

The start of construction may still be years away. Town Meeting will have to approve funds to design the sewer lines in spring 2024, and then approve funds for construction in 2025. If all goes according to plan, the new sewer lines could be online by 2028, according to the town.

The June 7 meeting will include the Sudbury Department of Public Works and Town’s engineering firm, Woodard & Curran, Inc., discussing preliminary work for the project. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at town hall, 322 Concord Road.
