LINCOLN, MA — Drivers who use Route 126 will face a month of closures starting Tuesday between Wayland and Route 2 in Concord, according to MassDOT.

Lanes along Route 126 will be closed weekdays through May 24 between about 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday, according to MassDOT. Route 126 will be repaved during the closures.

"The work will consist of maintenance pavement resurfacing, including utility structure adjustments and pavement marking improvements. This portion of Route 126 is a municipally owned state numbered route. The work is being performed under a Municipal Pavement Improvement Program via agreements between the Town of Concord, Town of Lincoln and MassDOT," the agency said in a news release.

MassDOT has also been planning a major bridge replacement project in Lincoln for the Route 126 span that crosses over Commuter Rail tracks south of Baker Bridge Road. The $10.1 million project rebuild the bridge substructure and superstructure, and reconstruct the multiuse path along the north side of the bridge. The bridge will also be raised about 3 feet so that double-decker trains can pass under the bridge. That project is still in the design phase, according to the MassDOT website.
