SUDBURY, MA — You can finally stop dreaming about the microcreamery and find out what it's all about.

About six months of anticipation about New City Microcreamery opening a Sudbury location (first reported by Sudbury Patch in August), the day is finally here. The Hudson-based handcrafted ice cream purveyor will open its shop at the Meadow Walk plaza along Route 20 on Saturday.

The Sudbury expansion came after owners Karim El-Gamal, Michael Kasseris, and Jason Kleinerman — who also operate the local Rail Trail Flatbread restaurants — cemented a distribution partnership with Whole Foods, which is also located in the Meadow Walk plaza.

"Fans of New City can expect classic flavors such as vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, as well as New City originals, dairy-free, and vegan flavors. Some New City fan favorites that will be available in Sudbury include salted cookies and cream and baklava. They also have some flavors under wraps that will only be available at the Sudbury location," the company said in a news release on Thursday.

New City opened its first location in downtown Hudson in 2015, and opened a second location in Cambridge in 2018.

The Sudbury shop will be open noon to 9 p.m. daily beginning March 18.
