Person Dies In Sudbury 3-Alarm Fire, Police Investigating Cause

SUDBURY, MA — One person died early Wednesday morning after a fire broke out in a home along Goodman's Hill Road, according to the Sudbury police and fire departments.

Firefighters responded to the home around 5 a.m. and arrived to find heavy flames and smoke coming out of the back side. Police attempted to enter the home, but were beaten back by flames and smoke.

Firefighters found one person dead in a bedroom after entering the home. A second resident was taken to the hospital due to injuries. A Sudbury police officer was also treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation Wednesday afternoon. State police, Sudbury police, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office and the state Fire Marshal are all collaborating on the investigation.

The 3-alarm fire drew a wide response from across the region, with firefighters from Marlborough, Framingham, Concord, Wayland, Maynard and Weston helping to put out the fire. Firefighters from Acton, Lincoln and Hudson helped cover Sudbury fire stations during the response.
