SUDBURY, MA — Santa Claus will make a special pre-Christmas visit to Sudbury.

The annual Sudbury police Santa Ride will happen this year on Wednesday evening. This year's event will be shorter than in 2020, but will touch most major neighborhoods in town.

According to police, the ride will begin around 6 p.m. at the Framingham line near the intersection of Elm Street and Overlook Drive. The route will continue past Loring Elementary, through the town center and up to Route 117 before heading back south and ending in the Crystal Lake area near the Hudson border.

Last year's Santa Ride was contact-free due to the pandemic. But this year, Santa will make stops along the way to greet kids and anyone else who has a Christmas wish.

"The route was designed to include multiple parking lots, where groups can congregate outdoors with space," police said in a Facebook post Wednesday. "Last year, we were still learning about being in groups outside, so we encouraged separation. This year, we know being outdoors is fairly safe, so have some fun and show your holiday cheer."
