'Simulated Active Assailant' Drill In Sudbury Will Last All Week

Police and firefighters from Concord, Lincoln, Sudbury and Wayland will be training in Sudbury for four days.

SUDBURY, MA — A multi-day drill involving police and fire department from across the region will take place in Sudbury this week, helping to train first responders on how to respond to a mass casualty event.

The four-day drill will involve police and firefighters from Concord, Lincoln, Sudbury and Wayland and will happen at 141 Boston Post Road, the former Bosse Sports training center.

During the event, the first responders will participate in drills involving a "simulated active assailant."

"The training is designed to enhance and evaluate the ability of area emergency response agencies to effectively coordinate, operate, and communicate to provide lifesaving force protection, rapid rescue, and emergency medical services in high threat mass casualty scenarios," a news release from the participating towns said.

The Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, FEMA and the Northeast Homeland Security Regional Advisory Council helped fund the training through grants.
