Sudbury Offers Cooling Centers As Intense Heat Nears

Heat indices could reach triple-digits on Thursday and Friday due to the combination of heat and humidity.

SUDBURY, MA — With the hottest temperatures of the summer so far approaching this week, Sudbury is reminding resident about two local resources to stay cool.

Both the Goodnow Library and the Sudbury Senior Center will be open during the peak of the heat on Thursday and Friday. The senior center is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the library from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.

According to the National Weather Service, the heat index — a measure of what the temperature feels like when humidity is taken into account — could max out at between 99 and 101 on Friday afternoon. Thursday will only be a little cooler with the heat index somewhere between 91 and 96.

The senior center is located at 40 Fairbank Road, and the Goodnow Library is at 21 Concord Road.
