SUDBURY, MA — The Sudbury Public Schools 2023-24 school year is officially underway. The district's 2,500 students returned to classrooms Wednesday, and the district said the first day was a success, set an optimistic tone for the school year.

With the collective efforts of exceptional teaching staff, enthusiastic students, and supportive families, the first day of school at five schools, catering to preschool through 8th-grade levels, was an inspiring success.

Rain may have fallen from the sky, but it did not dampen the spirits of the eager students as they arrived at their respective schools, ready to embrace the possibilities of a new year. Welcomed with open arms and warm smiles by the dedicated staff of the Sudbury Public Schools (SPS), each student felt the strong sense of community and support that has become a hallmark of the district's educational philosophy.

Superintendent Brad Crozier shared his delight at the day's events.

"This morning's rain did not dampen the students' smiles as they arrived at school and were welcomed by the SPS staff," Crozier said. "We had an incredibly productive professional development session on Monday and Tuesday, and the very supportive and eager staff were ready to greet our students on today's opening."
