Vote Jones for Sudbury School Committee on March 25

Strong Skills and Keen Listening Make a Winning Combo

I have worked with Karyn Jones on the Commission on Disability and on community-based projects beginning in 2021. Karyn was quick to master the mechanics of working in the municipal space, which is distinct from the corporate and non-profits arenas where she acquired a breadth of applicable experience. The planning, research, and communication skills Karyn brings to the projects she has undertaken, coupled with her persistence and hard work, are the reasons each project has been so successful.

This track record is a fine reason for me to support Karyn’s candidacy for Sudbury School Committee membership.

More important to me as key qualifications for the job, though, are the empathy and the dedication to including everyone that Karyn demonstrates. Including everyone involves listening - listening openly and patiently. I have seen Karyn go to great lengths to gather input and feedback and make productive adjustments and connections in the process of the projects she has worked on.

I would like Sudbury School Committee to incorporate more listening to families and the whole community into its important work. An elected official cannot represent the whole community unless they truly absorb considerations beyond their own personal perspective. A school committee that solicits broad input on important issues will be a school committee that serves Sudbury better. Karyn Jones will help revive listening on the School Committee and she has a strong set of skills, knowledge, and experience to put to work on the ordinary tasks and sometimes challenging decision making before them.

I urge you to cast your vote for Karyn Jones for School Committee on March 25th.
