Autism Eats and MOOYAH Burgers partner for community event

MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes in North Billerica will be partnering with Autism Eats for an event on Monday, April 3, 6-8 p.m.

April is Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month. MOOYAH Burgers, Fries and Shakes in North Billerica will be partnering with Autism Eats for an event on Monday, April 3, 6-8 p.m. Balloons, activities and a visit from New England Revolution’s mascot Slyde are all on the menu. Autism families and individuals with Autism are invited to attend to have the opportunity to dine out in a less stressful, non-judgmental environment and to socialize and connect with others who share similar joys and challenges. All behaviors are welcome.

Autism Eats founder Lenard Zohn has been organizing these dine-out events since 2014. Previous events at MOOYAH Burgers held in October 2021 sold out. This year’s event is also expected to sell out.

Advanced registration is required through the Autism Eats website at www.autismeats.org. Cost is $17 per person and will include a delicious burger buffet, chicken tenders, fries, soft drinks and dessert. A gluten free option is also available.

Zohn ensures that venue staff and volunteers receive autism awareness training. Music and lights are often lowered to accommodate participant sensory sensitivities. Food is typically served buffet style for shorter wait times. These efforts allow an establishment to better serve the autism community and meet some wonderful families.

“I am thrilled to be hosting a third event at MOOYAH,” he said. “They are a partner in supporting autism families like mine and welcoming the autism community to enjoy delicious food in a comfortable environment.”

Zohn plans to continue to expand Autism Eats to new restaurants and communities. Over 150 events in 20 different states have been held.

The events are successful due to donations and contributions from the community and businesses, which are used to keep event pricing affordable for families. Online donations can be made directly to Autism Eats through their website.

MOOYAH Burgers is located at 199 Boston Road (Treble Cove Plaza) in North Billerica. It is owned by Patrick Guay and managed by Kelsey Silverio. They are committed to supporting the communities it serves.
