TEWKSBURY, MA — A legendary Tewksbury restaurant that's been in business for 40 years is closing. The owners of Deli King, brothers in-law Arthur Agganis and Dimitrios Gomatos, plan to close the restaurant Tuesday, WCVB 5-ABC reported.

Gomatos said that he was glad to be leaving "but on the other hand, I'm sad because these people, I feel like we're family."

Agganis told WCVB 5-ABC, "There's nothing we can do to thank them enough."

The brothers plan to finally go on vacation. Agganis said he wants to go to Greece and that he has to "go visit the old country."

The cafeteria-style restaurant takes "great pride introducing you to fine Greek and American cuisine...in a comfortable family dining atmosphere," according to the Deli King website.

Deli King has a 4.4-star average in 463 Google reviews. One reviewer said: "The food is awesome, it's real diner style cooking right in front of you."

The property, at 885 Main St., has been for sale for some time, according to The Tewksbury Carnation. There have been two proposals for other businesses to take over the 230-seat, 3,928-square-foot restaurant, but the future of the building is unclear.
