Last Call For Maverick's Bar and Grille In Tewksbury

The establishment, which opened in 1997, turned in its liquor and food licenses.

TEWKSBURY, MA -- The sign in front of Maverick's Bar & Grille on Route 38 in Tewksbury says the restaurant is "closed for renovations," but now it appears as if it may be closed for good. Owners of the restaurant and bar, which opened in 1997, have surrendered their food and liquor licenses to town officials, signaling the closure is permanent.

A spokesperson for the restaurant could not be reached for comment. Maverick's has been a burden for town officials in recent years, paying taxes and water and sewer bills only when threatened with license revocation.

Neighbors have also complained about late-night noise and other problems at the restaurant, according to Tewksbury Police logs. Last May a woman was seriously injured when a man flipped a pool table onto her foot during a fight.
