TEWKSBURY, MA — A man was charged in a theft from the Tewksbury Public Library, according to police.

Anderson Phao, 26, of Tewksbury, was charged with larceny from building, break into depository, vandalize property, and thief, common and notorious.

Police were notified Friday at 4:30 p.m. that money from a donation box at the library had been stolen.

Phao is accused of taking the donation box into the restroom where he stole the money, about $50, then headed south on Main Street on foot, according to police.

He later turned himself in to police Sunday morning.

He is scheduled for arraignment Monday in Lowell District Court.
