Nearly 3,000 Lost Power In Tewksbury Amid Overnight Storm

Power was restored to all but one Tewksbury customer, as of Wednesday afternoon.

TEWKSBURY, MA — Thousands of Tewksbury residents lost power Tuesday night as a powerful nor'easter blew through Massachusetts.

Over 200 residents in South Tewksbury remained without power as of 10 a.m. Tuesday, according to National Grid. By 3:30 p.m., only one customer remained without power.

One outage affecting 247 customers began at 6:46 a.m. and was expected to last until 3 p.m. Nine customers lost power in another outage at 1:07 a.m.; their estimated restoration time is also 3 p.m.

Roughly 2,800 National Grid customers in town lost power around midnight, the police said. That outage was restored by morning.

Statewide, nearly half a million households lost power, almost entirely from the South Shore to the tip of the Cape. The storm damage has forced schools to cancel or delay classes, impacted morning commutes and even forced a warning to stay off the roads.
