OBITUARY: Paul E. Schneider, 63, of Tewksbury

Paul had lived in Tewksbury for the past 34 years. He died peacefully on Monday at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill.

TEWKSBURY, MA - Mr. Paul Edward Schneider, age 63 died peacefully on Monday, September 19, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, after a courageous battle with cancer, beginning nineteen years ago. He was the beloved husband of Betty Jeanne (Caplis) Cadger, with whom he had shared his life for the past thirty-four years.

Paul was born in Melrose in January 6, 1953, a son of the late Henry and Catherine (O’Connell) Schneider, and raised in Saugus where he attended Saugus High School with the Class of 1971. He had lived in Tewksbury for the past thirty-four years.

He worked as a technician for PRI Automation in Billerica, then for Brooks Automation in Chelmsford.

Paul loved music as an accomplished drummer for the former Matt Murray Band, the Soul Shakers, and the Smokehouse Blues Bands in small and large venues across New England. His treasured gig was at Boston’s House of Blues. He also loved movies, specifically action/superhero/horror movies, and music, especially Jimi Hendrix, loved watching Patriots and Red Sox games at TJ Callahans and Jon Ryans Pub, and also he loved being surrounded by his family and friends, especially during the holidays.

Besides his beloved “Betty Boop,” he leaves a daughter, Chrysten Gavel of Uxbridge, MA; his step-children, Coleen Cadger of Lowell and Jason and his wife Janine Cadger of Dracut; grandchildren, Dakota, Shane, and Damon; siblings, Patricia Consenitine of Salem, NH, Thomas Schneider and his wife Melinda of Lynnfield, Carol Randall of Lynn, and Michael Schneider and his wife Sandi and their dog, Olivia of Dracut; many nieces and nephews; and “friends in music” throughout New England.

Visiting hours Thursday, September 22, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the Tewksbury Funeral Home, located at the corner of 1 Dewey and 975 Main St. (Rte. 38) in Tewksbury Center, Ph. (800 in MA or 978) 851 2950.

His Funeral Service will be held Friday, September 23 at 11 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Make a Wish Foundation, 4742 N. 24th St. Suite 400, Phoenix, AZ 85016.
