Rain, Warmth Close Outdoor Rink In Tewksbury

The town said in a notice on its Website that the rink would be closed "until further notice."

TEWKSBURY, MA -- Town officials closed the outdoor skating rink on Livingston Street until further notice, less than two weeks after the rink opened and a week after local officials handed out hot chocolate to skaters to celebrate the rink's opening. The culprit? Rain and unseasonably warm weather.

The town said in a notice on its Website that the rink would be closed "until further notice." On Saturday, with a snow storm bearing down on the region, officials handed out coffee and donuts to skaters to celebrate the rink's opening.

On the plus side, the rink's closure may be short-lived, with more seasonable, sub-freezing temperatures in the forecast for late next week.
