TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury Lions Club is reminding local students that they have until Monday to submit their application for the club's Annual Scholarship.

The applications are available online, and are open to all high school graduating seniors who reside in Tewksbury.

"We, as Lions, support and serve our community. We feel that offering scholarships is one way we can help our community in giving much-needed funds to those looking to advance their academic career," Loretta Ryan, vice president of the Tewksbury Lions Club, told Patch.

  • Look in the mirror: Who do you see?
  • How have you become the person you are today?
  • Who or what has influenced you, and in what way?

According to the Lions Club, a scholarship committee of five members will score the applications, and then choose the winners.

Ryan said the club does not disclose ahead of time how much money it has to give or how many students will be chosen to receive the grants.

"We never disclose the amount, or how many scholarships, as we determine that when we have reviewed the applications," Ryan told Patch. "Sometimes there are many great ones, and we give out smaller amounts. But sometimes there are few, and we give out less of them, but with higher amounts. This is all decided upon vetting of the accepted applications."

The only way to submit application is through the mail. The application, postmarked no later than March 20, should be sent to Attn: Vice President Loretta Ryan, PO Box 314 Tewksbury, MA 01876.
