Tewksbury Looking To Fill Openings On Boards, Committees, Commissions

Town officials are appealing to community service-minded residents who want to "make a contribution to the improvement of our community."

TEWKSBURY, MA — The Town of Tewksbury is reminding residents that there are currently a number of board, committee and commission openings within the town.

Among the boards with vacancies are: Conservation Commission, Massachusetts Cultural Council, Historic Commission, and the Tewksbury Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Advisory Committee (TDEIAC).

Residents interested in these positions can complete an online application or request a printable copy of the application from the Town Clerk's office. The completed application can be returned to the Town Clerk's office by mail — Attn: Denise Graffeo, Town Clerk, Town Hall, 1009 Main Street, Tewksbury, MA 01876 — or via email at [email protected].

Applications must be submitted by June 7.

According to a Tewksbury spokesperson, members of boards, committees and commissions may be asked to advise the Select Board on a wide variety of issues by making recommendations on important matters.

"Members of boards, committees or commissions provide a positive service that is invaluable to the continued progress of our town," a Tewksbury official said in a statement. "(The advice provided by these members) often (is) the catalyst for innovative programs and improved services."

The official continued: "Serving on a board, committee or commission can be a rewarding experience for community service-minded residents. It is an excellent way to participate in the functioning of local government and to make a contribution to the improvement of our community."
