Tewksbury Memorial High Students Named Hats Off Winners For January

TEWKSBURY, MA — Tewksbury Memorial High School seniors Ava Paquette and Marissa Toutpuissant have been named the Tewksbury Rotary Club Hats Off Award winners for January.

The Hats Off Award, a joint initiative between the Tewksbury Rotary Club and TMHS, recognizes students who have distinguished themselves academically, have contributed to co-curricular programs at the high school and have been involved in the community. Students are nominated by TMHS faculty.

Paquette and Toutpuissant were honored at a Jan. 19 ceremony at Wamesit Lanes.

Paquette is the vice president of the Class of 2023 and a member of the Yearbook Club, the Peer Mentor Program and the National Honor Society. She was the student body representative on the TMHS Principal Search Committee, the DESE state and regional advisory council representative from TMHS and captain of the girls varsity soccer team.

Paquette also has volunteered at Applefest Fair, at a local food pantry, for Pac-Run events and with the Tewksbury Youth Soccer Tiny Tikes program. She also is a National Honor Society tutor for TMHS students.

Next year, Paquette plans to study nursing or neuroscience on a pre-physician's assistant track.

Toutpuissant is a part of the National African American Recognition Program and was the recipient of a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship.

She is a member of the Principal's Advisory Council, the French Club and the Anime Club. Additionally, Toutpouissant is a talented portrait photographer, whose work is on display at the school.

Toutpuissant plans to attend a four-year school and then get a master's degree in accounting.
