Tewksbury Police Department Installs License Plate Readers

Police installing small black cameras around town used to track license plates and ultimately solve crimes, according to a report.

TEWKSBURY, MA — The police department is installing 13 license plate readers in an effort to solve crimes, The Tewksbury Town Crier reported.

A police official said that the existing cameras have proved effective and have been involved in solving numerous crimes, including a bank robbery, burglaries, and motor vehicle break-ins.
