Tewksbury Special Town Meeting About Marijuana Sales: Town Clerk

Among the articles at the Oct. 3 Town Meeting will be the approval of retail marijuana sales and zoning for retail marijuana establishments.

TEWKSBURY, MA —Tewksbury Town Clerk Denise Graffeo has confirmed that the yet-to-be-released warrant for the Oct. 3 Special Town Meeting will include articles about marijuana sales.

"(The) warrant seeks to approve retail marijuana sales and another (article is) to set the zoning for retail marijuana establishments," Graffeo told Patch.

Graffeo said the warrant with the exact wording of the proposed articles would be mailed to every household and posted on the Town of Tewksbury website on Friday.

On Tuesday, Tewksbury Carnation reported that articles about marijuana sales relate to a proposed new marijuana outlet in the former Sal's Pizza, located at 2504 Main St.

Meanwhile, Sundaze, owner of the proposed dispensary, made a plea for votes at the Special Town Meeting on its website.

"On Monday, October 3, 2022, the town of Tewksbury will hold a special town hall meeting to vote on allowing a cannabis dispensary in Tewksbury," Sundaze wrote. "This is our last chance. In order to change the zoning laws, WE NEED YOU to show up and have your vote counted. We expect this to be a very close vote."

Those who wish to participate in the Special Town Meeting must be registered to vote. For those still unregistered, there are several ways to get registered, including a Voter Registration Session from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 23, at Town Hall, 1009 Main St.

Tewksbury Carnation also reported that a community outreach meeting is scheduled for Sept. 30, where Sundaze representatives will be available to answer questions from the public about the dispensary.

The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Tewksbury Wilmington Elks Lodge, located at 773 South. St. in Tewksbury.
