TEWKSBURY, MA — The Tewksbury teachers union and School Committee reached a tentative contract agreement Saturday, the union said.

The Teachers Association will hold an all-membership meeting Friday to vote on the contract.

"Thank you to everyone who supported the teachers and aides during the last thirteen months of bargaining," the union said. "We will announce how the vote goes. As always, we look forward to our continued efforts in mentoring and teaching the children of Tewksbury."

The union had suspended a months-long "work to rule" action just days earlier, as an "act of good faith" in the hope of reaching a contract with interim Superintendent Brenda Theriault-Regan.

The union planned the Friday meeting for the vote prior to reaching agreement Saturday.
