TEWKSBURY, MA — It's a new decade, unless you subscribe to the view that decades begin on ones, and Patch asked readers how they think the town has changed over the last decade. They responded with mostly complaints, about increased condos and apartments, and not enough businesses. But other residents said the town has not changed much, or that areas need more growth.

In a popular comment, Andrew Haddad said, There's "less forest land and too many apartments and condos. Too few businesses and too many of the same thing. It's just a place to live."

"Too many buildings. Too many condos. Not the nice quiet town it was," echoed Nan Starr.

But one resident quipped that the real growth has been in complainers: "Well we certainly have many more complainers than we used to have," wrote Shannon Scopa.

"The town has not evolved much in the last 10 years. We need to revitalize Rt 38," said Chris Kelly.

"It hasn't," said Kyle Duffy.

Bill Coppi pointed to insufficient change, saying, "New decade, same potholes."

Other residents complained about town government. Randy Almeida cited "increased taxes every year," while Colin Murphy said, "More water main breaks."

Several residents referred to overcrowding as a change over the decade.

Based on 2017 population estimates from the census bureau, the most recent, the town had added about 1700 people from 2010 to 2017, from 28,961 to 30,666.
