Here's your chance to learn something new in the new year at a free introduction to modern square dancing..
Who hasn't heard of square dancing? It usually conjures up thoughts of Western music and clothing, a rather kind of hoe down theme. That is not modern square dancing which includes any music with a good beat and basically whatever type of clothes one is comfortable wearing while moving at a brisk pace. Riverside Square Dance Club will be offering a free introductory night from 7 to 9:00 on January 26th at the Middleton Congregational Church, 66 Maple St. (Route 62) in Middleton. Modern square dancing can be a great family activity. No partner is needed. Anyone who can walk briskly can learn to square dance. It's great mental and physical exercise as well as fun and social. It really helps to improve listening skills while generating smiles and laughter along the way. If you can't make it on Jan. 26th, a second free introduction will be held on Feb. 2nd. After the free introductions, the club hopes folks will want to learn more. Classes continue each Thursday from 7:00 to 8:30 for 10 weeks at a cost of $85 per person. For more information visit Riversidesquares.org or find Riverside Squares on Facebook.
