According to the chamber, the award is handed out annually to a chamber member who embodies the characteristics of the late Carmon Cunningham, the former owner of the Cleaner Spot Dry Cleaners and Tailor at Wilmington Crossing, for whom the award is named.

The individual who wins the award should have achieved exceptional business success in their lifetime and be inspirational, innovative and have made an impact in the Wilmington and Tewksbury business communities, leaving a legacy of community and economic vitality for generations to come, the chamber said.

"The recipient must be encouraging, supportive, maintain a positive attitude and cheerful disposition, while bringing life and energy to the community," the chamber said in a statement. "The recipient must also have an incredible work ethic and provide a positive atmosphere in the workplace."

The submitted nomination form should include specific examples of the nominee's business success, leadership and community involvement, the chamber said.

Cunningham, who passed away in 2016, served on the chamber's board of directors for five years, including as the board president in 2013 and 2014.

"(Cunningham) was very involved in a host of community and business organizations and charitable endeavors and was very well-liked and respected by all he interacted with," the chamber said in a statement.
