WAYLAND, MA — Two MWRTA shuttles that serve Natick, Wayland, and Sudbury will stop running soon due to "extremely low ridership," the transit agency announced on Friday. The routes are only being suspended, not cut completely.

The Route 20 shuttle, which connects Wayland and Sudbury with the Framingham transit hub, will stop running on Monday. The MathWorks shuttle, which connects commuter rail stops to the company's campus in Natick, will stop running on Tuesday.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, many local residents are working from home or not at all, and MWRTA has responded with other service reductions. Most fixed-route buses are ending service in the early evening hours, and the MassBay shuttle ended service on March 25. The local MassBay campuses are not being used due to the outbreak.

MBTA commuter rail trains also continue to run on a reduced schedule due to lower commuter traffic.
