Ida M. Coates, 91, Formerly of Wilmington

Ida M. Coates, age 91, of East Wakefield, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away surrounded by her loving family on October 13, 2016.

Ida was born on April 7, 1925 in Reading, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Harold and Elvera (Chambers) Hardy.

Ida married Benjamin Coates in 1945; they moved to Wilmington, where they raised their children. Ida and Ben lived in Wilmington for more than 45 years before relocating to New Hampshire. They shared 65 years of marriage before Ben’s passing in 2011.

Ida is the beloved wife of the late Benjamin L. Coates, devoted mother of Harold Coates & his wife Donna of Salisbury, Thomas Coates & his wife Anne of Wilmington, Charlotte “Cece” Zolt & her husband Jeff of Wilmington, the late Benjamin Coates & his wife Diana of East Wakefield, NH and the late Frank Coates & his wife Mary Jo of Florida, loving grandmother of 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, dear sister of Jack Hardy & his wife Arlene of Florida and the late Ben Hardy, Paul Dunham, Blanche Carter and Charlotte Duggan. Ida is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service at the Wildwood Cemetery, 233 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, MA on Monday, October 17th at 12:30 p.m.
