Janet P. Coulouris, 61, Beloved Wilmington Community Member

Janet P. Coulouris (Bakey), age 61, of Wilmington, died unexpectedly at home on December 7, 2016.

Janet was born on July 16, 1955 in Medford, MA; she was the cherished only child of James J. and Ethel L. (Lyons) Bakey. Janet was raised and educated in Somerville, MA and a graduate of Somerville High School with the Class of 1973. Janet went on to further her education earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in early childhood education from Boston State College.

Prior to retiring, Janet, was employed as a Manager for Verizon for many years.

Janet and her husband Charlie along with their daughter Jamie, moved to Wilmington more than 28 years ago; she was a wonderful neighbor and a loyal friend to many. Janet was very involved with the Wilmington Educational Foundation (WEF) and We’re One Wilmington (WOW) where she served as treasurer. Janet was always a “go to” person when you needed something done; she was more than willing to volunteer her time and talents whenever and wherever needed. Janet’s selfless acts of kindness helped many people in the community throughout the years.

Janet was also a member of the White Island Shores Community Association. She loved her “Cape Cod Community” as well. Janet had many fond memories of spending time with her parents on Cape Cod every summer and she continued enjoying Wareham throughout her adult years. Janet loved the beach and all her friends from White Island.

Janet will be remembered for her love of sports, the Red Sox and Celtics equally but she also enjoyed a good game of football and an occasional game of hockey. She was an avid reader and had a fondness for animals.

Janet’s greatest joy was being a mother to her daughter Jamie; her unconditional love and support for her daughter was evident in everything she did. When Janet became a grandmother or “MA” as she was known to Jaydyn and Mia, her life was complete. Janet cherished her grandchildren with all of her heart, she enjoyed spending time with them, watching them grow and develop into wonderful little people and she lovingly spoiled them as only a grandmother can do.

Janet’s was quite a lady, smart, with a wicked sense of humor, and always willing to help others in need. She was loyal and kind to everyone she met and she will forever be missed by those whose hearts she touched.

Janet was the wife of Charles W. Coulouris, Jr., devoted mother of Jamie Marie Coulouris & her fiancé Michael Harris of Wilmington, loving “Ma” of Jaydyn and Mia, cherished daughter of the late James and Ethel (Lyons) Bakey. Janet is also survived by her beloved cousin Dorothy Schnetzer and her son Gary, as well as several cousins and many dear friends.

Family & friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, December 17th for Visitation from 10:00 – 11:45 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 12:00 noon.
