This Is What Patch Readers Buy In The Pre-Storm Supermarket Rush

During the last snowstorm, we asked Wilmington Patch readers what items they stocked up on before a storm. Here's what they told us.

WILMINGTON, MA -- Around the same time the National Weather Service was reporting that snow had reached the 16-inch mark in the last snowstorm, we asked Wilmington Patch readers what items they had stocked up on in the supermarket rush the day before and whether or not they had actually used those items. Now, with another snowstorm predicted for Wednesday, those supermarkets are once again packed with people are packed with people buying milk, bread and whatever else they think they are going to need to weather a day of being housebound.

Here are some of our favorite answers from the question we posed on our Facebook page last week. We also asked them to come clean and tell us whether or not they had used the items they bought. Think twice before you head out to the store to buy these items and ask yourself, "Do I really need ______?"

  • "Diapers .. and yes of course, I used almost all of them ...I have twins!" -- Jaclyn Rescigno
  • "Nothing that has your be put in the refrigerator or freezer. Lost too much food last time. I only buy stuff u don't need to refrigerate before or after opening to be safe." -- Donna Newhouse
  • "I bypassed the grocery store, bypassed the liquor store and stocked up on yarn @ Joann Fabrics. Finished one lap blanket today and halfway through a second one!" -- Nancy McGrail
  • "Nutty berry trail mix from Calarussos... and I spilled them everywhere when I was putting them away. Not a good start to my snow day at all." --Niki Jamieson
  • "Tampons (you said to come clean), oh, & by the way I'm going through menopause, so let me know if you ladies run out." -- Peggy Ryan
  • "Beer, stir fry and popcorn. Ate the popcorn already and enjoying the beer. Stir fry about to get housed in about 10 minutes." --Matt MacEachern
  • "Batteries for the flashlights in case of power outage. .. and never so happy to not have to use something I bought!" -- Megan Najarian
  • "NOTHING... you will never be in longer than a day anyway. Yesterday I made meatballs and froze for later use, homemade chicken fingers, mac n cheese, sweet potato fries, lazy chicken soup, and chocolate chip cookies." -- Melissa Fasulo

Anyone else wishing they were going to be snowed in at Melissa Fasulo's house?
