Wilmington Home Damaged When SUV Crashes Inside, 2 In Vehicle Injured

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington police said Friday that they are continuing to investigate a Thursday night incident in which a vehicle crashed into a Wilmington home, leading to the inhabitants of the car being hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The home, at 414 Woburn St., suffered significant structural damage and was deemed uninhabitable, according to the Wilmington Police Department.

WCVB reported that the homeowners were watching TV at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported to the homeowners, who later went to stay with friends, according to WCVB.

As of Friday afternoon, the Wilmington PD had not filed any charges against the driver of the vehicle. Police have not publicly identified the driver or the passenger of the vehicle.

WCVB reported that the vehicle was a red SUV. One homeowner told the station that he had witnessed the driver of the vehicle bleeding from the face and in a daze after the crash.

According to police reports, at around 9:50 p.m., Wilmington PD officers responded to the scene and observed that a car had crashed through the Woburn Street home.

A Wilmington PD investigation later determined that the car had left Woburn Street and traveled across the front yards of 412 Woburn St. and 414 Woburn St., before crashing into the latter home, the department said.

Police said that the operator of the vehicle was treated at the scene and transported by the Wilmington Fire Department to an area hospital. The passenger in the vehicle was located in the area and also transported to a local hospital, police said.
