Wilmington To Host Combat FC 2 MMA Event On Friday

The main event features Methuen's Rick "Genghis" Hawn taking on Brazilian Gesias Cavalcante. Tickets range from $60 to $250.

WILMINGTON, MA — MMA returns to Wilmington's Shriner's Auditorium on Friday with the Combat FC 2 event featuring 16 scheduled fights in the cage.

Doors open at 6 p.m. at the auditorium, located at 99 Fordham Rd. Limited tickets remain available online, and the main card also will be streaming live on UFC Fight Pass. The last MMA event in Wilmington was in June.

On Friday, the card is headlined by a welterweight fight between Rick "Genghis" Hawn, of Methuen, and Gesias Cavalcante, who is from Brazil. According to Tapology.com, Hawn brings a 21-4-0 mark into the fight, while Cavalcante is 21-12-1.

"Both men have fought all over the world and beaten a who's who list of opponents," event promoters said in a statement. "We're all in for a real treat on Friday. This is an absolutely massive fight that's unlikely to see the final bell."

In another featured fight, Sanad Armouti, who trains at the Florian Martial Arts Center in Brookline, takes on Anthony Pike, a Tucson, Arizona native who wrestled collegiately at Arizona State.

Another high-profile fight features Peabody native Lucas Rosa, the younger brother of UFC fighter Charles Rosa, taking on Nestor Yuga.

Promoters said this amateur bout is "expected to be a war."

Tickets for the event cost between $60, for general admission, and $250, for a cage-side seat.
