Wilmington Memorial Library To Host Solstice Sackbuts Concert

The trombone trio will perform in the Large Conference Room on Aug. 25, playing folk and pop music from around the world.

WILMINGTON, MA —Spots remain open for Wilmington Memorial Library's "Indoor Sliding Around the World Concert" next week featuring the trombone trio the Soltice Sackbuts.

The concert takes place from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 25 in the Large Conference Room at the library, which is located at 175 Middlesex Ave. The library said those interested in attending must register online. There are 35 to 50 available spaces, and a waiting list will be created if interest exceeds capacity.

According to the library, the Waltham-based Solstice Sackbuts will take the audience on an international tour with folk and pop music from around the world.

"No passports are required while your toes tap to sambas, tangos, tarantellas, polkas, horahs, waltzes, jigs, calypsos and reggae as well as rock, jazz and some of the world's most famous and popular music," the library said.

On their website, the Solstice Sackbuts said they have been "happily astonishing audiences" at libraries, museums, schools, historical societies, fairs, farmers markets and assorted concert venues since 2010.

The group is a chamber trio that performs on soprano, alto, tenor and bass trombones.

"Though every musical group thinks they're unique, we believe we're doing something that no other group is doing, and we're getting much positive feedback," the Solstice Sackbuts said in a statement.
