Wilmington officials remind residents that if a dog owner is 70 years old or older, the fee to register their dog will be waived.

Dog owners also can avoid the late registration fee if they attend the Wilmington Annual Rabies Clinic on April 1. There, employees from the Town Clerk's office will be on hand to register dogs for no extra fee, after the dogs have received their vaccination.

The Rabies Clinic is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. on April 1, at the Public Buildings Department, located at 30 Church St.

Dogs and cats can receive their rabies vaccinations at the clinic for $10 per animal. City officials remind residents that dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in a carrier while attending the clinic.

If residents are unsure about whether their dog's rabies vaccination is up to date in town records, they are asked to take a photo of the certificate and email it to [email protected].

The Town of Wilmington also reminds residents that pursuant to G.L. Chapter 141 "no more than four dogs are allowed per household."
