Wilmington Seeking Land To Build Fire Department Substation

A substation in northeast Wilmington will give the fire department another facility from which to operate in addition to Adelaide Street.

The Wilmington Fire Department currently conducts all services out of its headquarters in the Public Safety Building on Adelaide Street. That would change if the town is able to build a fire department substation in northeast Wilmington.

WILMINGTON, MA — The Town of Wilmington has announced that it is seeking a parcel of public or private land in the northeast corner of town on which to construct a substation for the Wilmington Fire Department.

The substation would give the Wilmington FD a second facility from which to operate in addition to its headquarters at the Public Safety Building, located at 1 Adelaide St.

"The Town of Wilmington believes that the establishment of a fire substation in north Wilmington would enable the town to improve response times and service levels in north Wilmington and throughout the community," the Town said in a Monday statement.
