Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association Donates to Stick Your Goal Program

INTERNATIONAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN COLLECTING AND DONATING LACROSSE EQUIPMENT FOR GUATEMALAN CHILDREN SINCE 2008

WILMINGTON, MA – With the record-setting snow and cold that we’ve experienced this winter it’s hard to believe that spring is right around the corner. One of the greatest parts of spring is stopping by the Woburn Street School on any given night and watching the boys and girls of the Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association (WYLA) in action. While the young lacrosse players of Wilmington are getting ready for their season with indoor training, a group of young lacrosse players more than 2,200 miles away are also getting the opportunity to play lacrosse due to the generosity of the WYLA.

Since 2008, brothers Chase and McCrae Williams have been collecting used lacrosse uniforms and equipment to help those who want to play lacrosse but find it difficult to buy the gear. Donations made to their community service project called “Stick to Your Goals” assist the efforts of Maya Lacrosse, an organization which brings the game of lacrosse to Guatemalan children. For the first time since the program was founded, Wilmington Youth Lacrosse has become a supporter and donated surplus equipment and uniforms to the program.

The program has been instrumental in raising the spirits and hope of those underprivileged children as well as teaching the life lessons that come from sports. “Stick to Your Goals has received support from local youth lacrosse leagues like Wilmington and Weston Youth Lacrosse, sporting goods companies like Dick’s Sporting Goods and even colleges like Clemson University have supported the program. As the WYLA enters its tenth anniversary year, it is great to see the program in a position to not just serve the youth of Wilmington but to help young men and women around the world to have access to the sport of lacrosse.
