How Much Rain Did Winchester Get?

Rain totals are beginning to come in after a flash flood warning hit the region Friday night.

WINCHESTER, MA — Rains that spurred a flash flood warning hit the area last night, and while residents are still experiencing rainy conditions, the National Weather Service is beginning to report rain totals from the storm.

Winchester residents experienced 1.51 inches of rain overnight, which fortunately was on the lower side of rain totals countywide. The totals pale in comparison to Littleton, who received 4.26 inches of rain.

The National Weather Service says a flash flood warning is issued when a flash flood is imminent or occurring. If you are in a flood-prone area move immediately to high ground. A flash flood is a sudden violent flood that can develop in just minutes, or it can take hours to develop. It is even possible to experience a flash flood in areas not immediately receiving rain.
