Local broker named to new task force

Foley named as chair of GBAR committee on sustainability

BOSTON – Craig Foley, a broker with LAER Realty Partners in Winchester, has been elected chairperson of the Greater Boston Association of REALTORS® (GBAR) Sustainability Task Force for 2019. As a GBAR committee leader, Foley is responsible for ensuring that the newly-created task force meets its programming goals and business initiatives as set forth in the association’s strategic plan. Specifically, he will help administer the activities of the sustainability task force, facilitate discussion at committee meetings, and provide regular reports and present committee action items to the GBAR Board of Directors.

A Realtor® since 2000, Foley also serves as the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) chair of the Sustainability Advisory Group. For NAR he also has served as an advisory board member of the Green Resource Council and served on the Land Use, Property Rights and Environment Committee from 2015-2018. In 2017 he served on the Global Climate Change Policy Review Work Group for NAR.

The Greater Boston Association of Realtors® is one of five real estate specialty divisions of the Greater Boston Real Estate Board. The GBAR membership currently totals more than 10,000 residential real estate agents and brokers working in over 950 offices throughout Metropolitan Boston and Eastern Massachusetts. A local chapter of the Massachusetts and National Associations of Realtors®, GBAR is the largest local REALTOR® association in New England.

Foley is the founder of Sustainable Real Estate Consulting Services, a LEED Green Associate and chief sustainability officer for LAER Realty Partners. His combination of real estate and energy management skills give him a unique perspective about sustainable energy solutions and subject matter expertise on greening the MLS and high-performance home valuation and marketing. As a real estate broker, he has sold several high-performance projects in and around Greater Boston.

He is the team leader of REthink39 Group. REthink39 is devoted to lowering the 39% of U.S. energy consumption attributed to the built environment and believes they can be part of a solution with every transaction closed.

As a real estate consultant, he has partnered with a broad range of companies including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratories, Northeast Energy Efficiency Partnerships, Elevate Energy, and the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.

He was one of five people in the U.S. to receive the EverGreen Award by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) in 2013. He also serves as an advisory board member for the NAR Green Resource Council and is a certified instructor of the NAR Green Designation. His committee work at NAR includes chairing the Sustainability Advisory Group.
