2 Men Shot; 1 Dies In Early Morning Shooting In Woburn: Police

Officers were called to a home around 3:40 a.m. for a report of a disturbance; one man died at the scene, police said.

WOBURN, MA — A man was shot to death inside a Woburn home early Monday morning, Woburn Police Department Chef Robert Rufo said.

Officers were called to a home on Washington Street for a report of a disturbance at around 3:40 a.m., Rufo said, adding that two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds, and one was taken by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The second man was pronounced dead at the scene, Rufo said.

A preliminary investigation has found that the two men knew each other and the shooting was not "a random act of violence," according to Rufo.

Neighbor William Govostes told WCVB5, "I thought it was one of the traffic lights was blinking red, and then I come to find out, the cruisers started showing up."

Another neighbor said an officer and K-9 unit also searched near his shed earlier in the morning, the outlet reported..

Woburn and Massachusetts State Police are actively investigating.

Further details were not released.

The police referred further questions to the Middlesex District Attorney's office.

The DA's office's press office was not reachable for comment due to the holiday.
