MASSACHUSETTS — Chick-fil-A will be closing its restaurants for an entire weekend later this month, for the first time in years.

Christmas Day falls on a Saturday this year, which hasn't happened since 2010.

With the chicken chain always closed on Sundays, that means the 17 Massachusetts locations will be closed all of Christmas weekend, Dec. 25 and 26.

Chick-fil-A restaurants are closed on Sundays because of the chain's devout Christian ownership. According to the company website, founder Truett Cathy "saw the importance of closing on Sundays so that he and his employees could set aside one day to rest and worship if they choose."

In Massachusetts, Chick-fil-A has locations in Attleboro, Brockton, Burlington, Hyannis, Chicopee, Copley Square, Dedham, Framingham, Hanover, Marlborough, Methuen, Peabody, Plymouth, Seekonk, Westborough, Woburn and Worcester.
