OBITUARY: Roque Pena, 77, of Woburn

"A true, honest and wonderful man who had a wonderful impact on not just his family, but all those whom he shared his life."

Roque Pena passed away at his home, Wednesday, November 9th amongst his beloved family. The devoted husband of Felicita (Delvalle) Pena, he was 77 years of age.

Born,raised and educated in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, Mr. Pena began his career in construction in the area building homes. In 1954 he moved to the United States where he would reside in Woburn for the rest of his life. When Mr. Pena moved to Woburn, he worked for the Foundry for a while and later became a long time employee at Woody’s Auto Mechanics.

In the early sixties, Mr. Pena went back to Puerto Rico for a visit, when he met Felicita. Well, they soon returned to Woburn as husband and wife and journeyed over the next fifty three years together. They brought six children into the world whom they were very proud of.

Mr. Pena was a very holy and religious man. He attended the Institute of Theology in Boston and throughout the years, he preached in his church and lived his faith every single day.

Known as ‘Papa Pena’ to all of his family and friends, he will always be remembered for being a lovable, dedicated husband, father and grandfather. A family man who was the pillar of strength for the family. A man of God who was resilient, patient, kind compassionate. A loyal friend who was giving, selfless, punctual, dependable, wise, personable and trustworthy.

Sadly Mr. Pena was predeceased by his daughter Nancy just a little over a year ago, along with his late siblings Juan, Clemente, Raymond Rodriguez and Julia Peña.

He was the beloved husband of Felicita, loving father of Roque Pena Jr., Alexy Pina his wife Cindy, Holvin Pena his wife Kelley, Iris R. Pena de Santiago her husband Julio, Evelyn Pena Hodgdon her husband Michal. Dear brother of Eugenio Peña, Frankie Rodriguez,stepbrother to Francisco, Roberto, Edward and Vianey Rodriguez. Cherished "Papi" to Diane Rivera, Denise Roman, Jaclyn Hazlett, Julio R. Santiago, Steven Peña, Alexy James Peña, Nicole Peña, Khyle Peña, KayLina Hodgdon, Alyvia Peña, Layla Hodgdon, Mia Peña and seven great-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Cantillon Funeral Home, 263 Main Street, Woburn on Tuesday, November 15th at 10 a.m. Interment in Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to call at the Funeral Home on Monday, November 14th, from 4-8 p.m.
