Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Eyes Potential Woburn Location

The fast food chain is asking the city for a special permit to open one of its New Orleans–style fried chicken restaurants in Woburn.

WOBURN, MA — Fried chicken, biscuits and mashed potatoes, oh my! Hungry yet? Woburn residents who crave comfort food from down south may be in luck.

Representatives with Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen want to make Woburn the future home of its latest Massachusetts restaurant.

They are asking city council for a special permit to do so.

If city council approves the special permit, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen officials have plans to put a restaurant at 305 Mishawum Rd.

Known for its rich Cajun and creole flavors, the New Orleans-based chain already has 21 locations throughout the state, including places like Boston, Fall River, Quincy and Springfield to name a few. The other locations can be found here.

Popeyes isn't the first major chicken chain to eye Woburn as a potential restaurant location. One of the chain's biggest competitors, Chick-fil-A, opened a restaurant in the city about two years ago.
