WOBURN, MA — Woburn’s Bertucci’s restaurant on Commerce Way has closed, the restaurant said in a statement on Wednesday.

Bertucci's served its final customers at its 17 Commerce Way location on Thursday of last week, according to a statement.

Bertucci’s said all its Woburn employees have been relocated to other Bertucci’s restaurants in Reading, Lexington and Peabody.

Community members quickly noted the closure over the weekend and in recent days.

Confirming the news on Wednesday, Bertucci’s highlighted its nearby Reading restaurant, which sits just over two miles north of the old Woburn Bertucci’s spot.

The Reading Bertucci’s is located at 45 Walkers Brook Drive.

“Bertucci’s values its guests and the communities in which they serve, and thanks the residents of Woburn for their patronage over the years,” the restaurant said.

Bertucci’s is based in Northborough and continues to operate 25 other locations in Massachusetts.

The chain filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2018, closing a number of stores in the process. Robert Earl, who owns other brands including Planet Hollywood, Buca di Beppo and Earl of Sandwich, then bought Bertucci’s a matter of months later.

This month’s Woburn closure comes after other similar closures in New England this year.

A location in Darien, Conn. closed earlier this month, as noted in a Patch report.

Before that, a location in Andover also shut its doors, first reported by Andover News.
