Woburn Democratic City Committee Announces Caucus Plans

WOBURN, MA — The Woburn Democratic City Committee has announced plans for its upcoming caucus, where delegates will be elected for the 2023 Massachusetts Democratic Convention.

The caucus is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Jun 10, at the American Legion, located at 194 Lexington St. Doors will open at 9 a.m. and participating Democrats must be registered by 9:45 a.m.

All registered Democrats in Woburn and anyone 16 years of age or older who pre-registers are eligible to participate in their ward caucus and may run as a delegate or alternate during the caucus.

According to the Democratic Committee, Wards 1-5 and Ward 7 will elect 4 delegates and 4 alternates apiece and Ward 6 will elect 3 delegates and 3 alternates to attend the convention, which takes place Sept. 23 at the Tsongas Center in Lowell.

Additionally, the Democratic Committee said that youth (ages 16 to 35), people with disabilities, people of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community who are not elected as delegates or alternates are encouraged to apply to be add-on delegates, which can be done at the caucus or by visiting Massachusetts Democratic Party website.

At September's convention, the Democratic party will adopt a party agenda or platform by a majority vote of convention delegates. It also will be a chance for Democrats from across the state to gather to meet fellow activists and hear from elected officials.
