Woburn Free Coronavirus Testing Canceled Due To Weather

The city was due to again provide free testing for residents in the Showcase Cinema parking lot Saturday.

WOBURN, MA — Free coronavirus testing scheduled in Woburn Saturday was cancelled Friday due to an expected storm.

The city was due to offer coronavirus testing in the Showcase Cinema parking lot, as it has done several times before. The testing was rescheduled to Dec. 12, Mayor Scott Galvin said.

A lot of precipitation is expected Saturday, with rain turning to snow Saturday afternoon in what could be a significant nor'easter. Snow could fall at rates of 1-2 inches per hour.

Only Woburn residents are eligible for the testing. Registration will open for the Dec. 12 testing Sunday at 9 a.m.

Woburn was designated high-risk by the state, Friday, with its positive test rate above 5 percent and its case count rising. The city reported 247 new cases and a 5.27 percent positive rate over the last two weeks.
