Mark Your Calendar: Annual Butterfly County Coming Up

The annual count by the North American Butterfly Association takes pace at Independence Oaks County Park.

Here’s a fun, educational activity for the entire family:

The annual Butterfly Count, sponsored by the North American Butterfly Association, takes place form 10 a..m.-1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at Independence Oaks County Park.

Volunteers walk about two miles and net butterflies for identification with the help of experts who will also provide information on the butterflies seen. Water and nets will be provided, or bring your own. Meet at the Camp Wilderness parking lot.

The program is free; a daily or annual vehicle park pass is required for park entry to the park, located at 9501 Sashabaw Road in Clarkston.
