City Asks Residents To Clear Snow, Observe Snow Removal Rules

With heavy snows and freezing temperatures this week, Chelsea residents may want to be aware of the city’s snow removal rules and policies. According to the city’s winter newsletter, residents must remove snow and ice from their sidewalks within 48 hours of snowfall as required by ordinance No. 94. Other rules in the ordinance state that “snow cannot be pushed onto the streets,” and there’s no street parking allowed from 2:00 am to 5:00 am. Take care when removing snow to avoid strain and injury, but be mindful of the consequences for violating these ordinances, which can result in fines for property owners.
