Aretha Franklin Joins Entertainment Lineup for Pope's Visit

The "queen of soul" says it's "a blessing to sing in the presence of His Holiness."

The “queen of soul” Aretha Franklin will sing for Pope Francis during his historic visit to Philadelphia later this month.

Franklin joins the lineup of musicians performing at the Festival of Families in Philadelphia on Sept. 26, including Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, Colombian singer/songwriter Juanes, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the rock band The Fray, comedian Jim Gaffigan and Mark Wahlberg, who will host the event, USA Today reports;

“It is indeed a blessing to sing in the presence of His Holiness and to the attendees of the Festival of Families in the City of Brotherly Love,” Franklin said in a statement. “I look forward to this event. Be blessed!”
